Lackluster Debut in Intermediate Division

The Trump Tower Flames made their debut in the Intermediate (Softball B) division this week and were lucky to scrap out a 15-15 tie with potential rivals Soft Balls (unique name).

For the first time in the team's history, the Flames lost the rock, scissors, paper battle for home team advantage. Player/manager Ho said, "I always go rock, never fails..but this guy saw it coming a mile away and went with paper. Full credit to him."

Amid a darkening sky, the Flames played an uncharacteristically poor defensive game, allowing 6 runs in the 1st inning and 5 runs in the 3rd inning. But when the chips were down in the bottom of the 6th inning (game shortened by darkness) tied at 15-all, the Flames shut down the Soft Balls to salvage the tie.

Paul Culham marked his return to the lineup with a home run in the 2nd inning to spark the 6 run inning.

Perfect days at the plate were recorded by Teddy E. (4 for 4 with 3 runs scored), Paul Culham (4 for 4), Ted O. (3 for 3), player/manager Irv (3 for 3) and debutante Joseph Raso (3 for 3).

The Flames return to the field on July 4th with a showdown at 9:30pm at Roding Park vs. Win or Lose We Still Booze. A fireworks show is planned for fans in attendance after the game.
